Dyers Steak Stable was founded in 1972 and it was the brain child of Murray Dyer who had a vision of a restaurant in the rustic iconic period land mark. Formally, the stables of the Old British Queen Hotel, it dates back to the mid 1860s, hence the origin of our name. Dyers Steak Stable soon became the quintessential steak restaurant of Ballarat, applauded for fine food, wine and service, often fondly referred to in Ballarat’s elite’ class as an “Institution”

Amazing dining experience - from entree to dessert, our meals were exceptional. The steaks were perfectly cooked and our desserts.... we just didn’t want to share them with each other. I went out of my way to compliment the chef because it was well deserved.
Dyers is a special occasion restaurant that I think you could so more regularly. The menu had many tempting options for entree and our steak was of course superb as you would demand from a steak restaurant. The wine list was extensive and good value also.
The staff were engaging and were prepared to join in with some laughter.
Great menu and these guys really know what there doing... with not only steak...everything fresh and along with a great atmosphere. A significant change from its old standard....
